Hotel policy on minor alone?

Can someone who was 18+ check me in at a hotel? I'm 17. It won't be my parent, but possibly my friend's parent, or a close friend I have. They won't be at the hotel with me, though they are a few blocks away. I also have my parents permission. Are there restrictions against this?
