My son 30 gets fever chills and night sweats every 3 weeks , can it be untreated malaria?

My son 30 gets a fever of 100 or more every 3 weeks for the last 2 years .He gets night sweats and chills all his tests have been negative , could it be malaria which has been left untreated?
